  13. This is a pre-production version of a Windows Baseball Statistics Program.
  14. It is being released to get feedback from potential users to make sure
  15. we're on the right track. This program will keep track of many statisics
  16. for Leagues, Teams, Players, Hitting, Pitching, Running, Fielding, and
  17. Scheduling. If there's anything missing, please let us know. You will be
  18. able to keep notes (up to 32K) on teams and players for additional data.

  20. if you downloaded or were given a zipped file (MBSnnn.ZIP), you must first
  21. unzip the file with PKUNZIP (or another unzip utility) before installing.
  22.  
  23. To install this Baseball Statistics program, run INSTALL.EXE while in
  24. Windows. It will create a windows program group (if you allow it to) that
  25. will contain an Uninstall Icon (besides the normal program icons) so that
  26. you can remove the program completely from Windows if you decide not to
  27. use it.
  28.  
  29. This program can be used by the smallest little leagues all the way up
  30. to major league baseball. The first time you start the program, all the
  31. fields will be blank (unless a sample data file is included). First choose
  32. the Year button to specify what year you want to start with. Next select
  33. the League button to enter the league name(s), then use Team button for
  34. each league to set up team numbers and names. Finally, select the Player
  35. button to add players to the teams.

  37. The tabs at the bottom of the program window allow you to select Teams
  38. (where the team standings are displayed), Players, Hitting, Pitching,
  39. Fielding (where player statistics are displayed), Custom (choose the
  40. statistics you want to see for players), and Schedule (for scheduling
  41. games, fields, and umpires). The Schedule tab is currently inactive
  42. because that part of the program hasn't been completed yet.

  44. The Update button allows you to enter or add to the data fields for teams
  45. and players. The Sort button allows you to sort players by different data
  46. fields. There is a separate sort for offensive, defensive, and pitching
  47. catagories. Teams can't be sorted since they are displayed in standings
  48. format (win-lost record and games behind). The Notes button allows you to
  49. enter notes for teams and players. You may use this for player addresses,
  50. phone numbers, etc. The Print button prints the current screen or notes.
  51. The Help button displays an About Box, but a full help system is being
  52. worked on for version 1.0. The Close button quits the program.

  54. If you register this beta version, you will receive the most current beta
  55. version right away, plus the registered production version 1.0 will be
  56. sent to you free of any other charges. The scheduling will be completed,
  57. you will be able to delete years, leagues, teams, and players (currently
  58. the delete button is inactive), and there will be a complete help system.

  60. Here are some of the suggestions already made for program enhancements:

  62. 1. Add the ability to open and close multiple data files and allow copying
  63.    (merging, importing & exporting) between files. This will allow many
  64.    people to keep track of their teams or leagues and have a way to put
  65.    them all together at a later date.

  67. 2. Display league leaders in different catagories (users choice).
  68.  
  69. 3. Add additional statistical fields (wild pitches, passed balls, etc.)
  70.  
  71. 4. More printed reports (schedules, certificates, contracts, etc.)
